“You taught me things about ‘R’ that I never knew or imagined. Armed with this book, I now feel competent to tackle that difficult sound that so many SLP’s dread to conquer!”
— Cathy Burrow, SLP

Book Details

Successful R Therapy teaches how the jaw, lips, and tongue work for correct R production. Learn to understand the difference between the Consonantal R and the Vocalic R, and between a Tip R and a Back R. This book teaches you how to train even the most difficult R clients. You’ll learn how to establish a “Cornerstone R” (the first R sound your student can produce consistently) and then move quickly to words, sentences, and conversational speech.

Successful R Therapy was used as a textbook at the University of Kentucky in 2007 for the class Phonological Development and Disorders (CD 661). The book was also a suggested resource for Neurological Speech Disorders II (CD 678). This book is currently being used as supplemental reading material in college and university courses on articulation.

“This book in now my “bible” for R therapy. I highly recommend it to anyone struggling with fixing this difficult sound! I am able to move these students through therapy more quickly resulting in a lower caseload overall.”
— Michelle Moffitt Donnell, SLP

Pam Marshalla is such a speech guru that it is wonderful to purchase any or all of her materials. This book in particular makes you aware of several techniques that are simple that perhaps even a quite knowledgeable and seasoned speech pathologist had either been unaware of or had not yet attempted to try. This book is a keeper. I would recommend it to both neophyte and seasoned speech pathologists alike.
